What If God Was One Of Us?

I few days ago I came across a post by Jackie – ‘Taking a Moment to Notice the Wounded Cicada’ – (http://Jackie2759125.newsvine.com/_news/2012/06/18/12282767-taking-a-moment-to-notice-the-wounded-cicada ), which made me think: ‘I can so relate to this…’.

I often rescue insects, worms, and spiders. Some people find this behavior of mine peculiar. One of my colleagues once made a joke – “Hey, there’s a bee drowning in the kitchen sink – go rescue it… I rushed into the kitchen… It was too late – the bee’s wings were hopelessly wet, and she didn’t even look like a bee anymore. I felt sad for her.

How many times Mother Nature made us, humans, feel small and helpless in the face of catastrophic events such as earthquakes, hurricanes or tornados?! In the midst of these uncontrollable forces, didn’t we wish and pray some Powers from Above came to our rescue and saved us against all the odds? Would not we feel grateful if some Strong and Kind Giant chose not to overlook our “little” existence, took us in his arms and brought to safety?

When I see little bugs, birds or pets that could use a miracle, I gladly jump at the opportunity to perform that little miracle for them.  To me, it’s more than just being kind – it makes me feel like I am a part of the Goodness that is always present in the world.

I am glad I am not alone feeling compassion toward other creatures neighboring with us on this beautiful Planet Earth. Obviously, it’s not just about insects – it’s about Humankind treating our fellow animal-cohabiters, as well as each other, with respect and empathy. It’s about extending our help to those who are weaker or have lost control over their destiny.

Every time we help an older person to cross the street or carry a luggage, every time we give up our seat for a pregnant woman, or even when we just grace a stranger with our smile – we bring more Goodness into the world, we make it better, we make a difference.

I mind you, there’s a little bit of God in each of us!

  1. Well said. I have rescued earthworms from wet sidewalks for years. Turns out, my mother and grandmother did the same thing, unbeknownst to me. It is the Spirit inside of us, planted there by God. And it manifests in little ways. Not so little, to the worm.

  2. Wonder – filled post!! Thank you.

  3. It makes me very happy to know that some else in this sad world cares for insects and bugs. I do not particularly like them but I do not like to see them harmed .

This was a good post and I greatly enjoyed reading it.Thank you for sharing your thoughts

  4. What a wonderful post!

  5. The title of your blog of course, if homage to the song written by Eric Bazilian (lyrics) and popularized by Joan Osborne and Alanis Morissette. It’s interesting because not too long ago, I also invoked some of the words from that song in connecting mere humanity to an infinite God.

Nice to know that “great minds think alike.”

    Peace.

  6. Yeah … I’m guilty of rescuing spiders out of the bathtub, and bumblebees from between the window panes, moving worms off the road when it rains. I do swat mosquitoes though … gotta draw the line somewhere I suppose!

  7. Love your perspective. And the thought of being a miracle maker for the little insect. I try to remove them from my house, not kill them. (unless it’s a wasp. Wasps can not co-habit with me. Sorry, wasps.).

  8. This makes me remember my God child, crying profusely because her little brother had stepped on some ants. She was sobbing “they’re God’s creatures”.

  9. We can all do with a little extra kindness at times so we should all be capable of giving a little extra kindness let’s just extend it beyond just human beings and include all the helpless in there. The world would soon be a much nicer place.,

  10. i find nothing wrong with rescuing and caring about a life or lives no matter how small and insignificant it is all life and here in the moment and that gives it meaning

  11. What a great post! What a beautiful heart. xo

  12. Nice post and a nice reminder, we are made in Gods image so we should act like it.

  13. thankfully there are still some of us in this world. I go out of my way to rescue whatever I can whenever even if it is a lowly silverfish running around in the bathroom! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten out of my car and stopped traffic for birds, turtles, ducks and the like. So many need our help!

    • God Bless you for that, Dockfam. I guess, there’s an inner calling that makes us go out of our way to help others, no matter how primitive their beings might be. It feels so good and empowering. I am so very happy to be one of many, who feel compassion toward others.

  14. Incredibly thoughtful and sweet post!

I honestly hadn’t ever seen our little companions in such a light, and while I might not be a total convert, I will be more thoughtful about the other creatures around us in the future… Good times!

  15. A beautiful mind!
    kc

  16. I do exactly as you do. I try to save any creature, whether it be a bee, a worm or anything that needs saving. Good for you and keep at it 🙂

  17. beautiful post, NYPARROT and I agree with you 100% about doing your bit, no matter how small – each bug that’s rescued – you make a HUGE difference, especially if you save it’s life. if everyone thought like you did, and did something other than just talking about – our world would be paradise!

  18. Hi there, nyparrot,

I’ve nominated most deserving you for an award! If you’d like to accept it, please check out my post here. If you’d rather not, please know that I respect the work you put into your blog and am more than happy just to have been able to mention it, lovingly, on my own.

    With love,

    Anne

    • Dear Anne, I am so touched by this very special award! Thank you so very much. I will absolutely find the time to accept it properly (it might not happen right away, but I will do it!!). I appreciate a great deal you taking the time to nominate my blog. God bless, and much Love! Glasha

  19. Hey there! I have nominated you for inspiring blog award… I think your blog is pretty awesome… 🙂

    • Oh My…:-) I can’t believe I’ve been nominated again. I am SO honored, SO humbled by the fact that my fellow blogger took the time to include me into group of inspiring blogs. It means a lot to me for my work to be acknowledged. I am planning on accepting this award formally as soon as time allows. THANK YOU!! God Bless!:-)

  20. Hi
I usually avoid posts in the self-help and improvement category. There are so many of them and they are so often trite and poorly written. But this is a beautiful post. Gorgeous images, stylishly put together and with a message that I appreciate. I am going to share this with my kids. A lovely way to start the day. Thanks!

    • Thank you, Rachael, I greatly appreciate your kind words. It makes me SO happy to know that there many of us, who share the same point of view on treating everyone and everything around us as a special gift that we received when we were given a chance to enter this material, in many ways imperfect, but still very beautiful world.

  21. Just loved this,
Just to know that there are so many people doing the same thing… I rescued a baby wood cockroach from the top of my laptop and popped it outside this morning, and then found a tiny snail crawling up the side of the bath ( why), which was gently re-homed. And I have to say I rescue wasps… don’t feel I can discriminate !!!

Thank you for this lovely post

    • That is so heart-warming to learn that there’s an army of people doing the same things I’ve been doing. That’s truly fantastic! I usually run from wasps, but if there’s one in trouble and is too weak to bite me, I’ll take the time to extend my help and bring it to safety.:-)

  22. Hi nyparrot!

What a wonderful post! I totally hear you. Poeple made jokes of me when I would safe insects from drowning or being stepped on when I was little. I don’t know if they still do as I still give a helping hand to insects (and others) but don’t resonate with those energies mentioned above, much, anymore. – What if God was one of us? What if God was within each and every one of us?

I also like the song a lot. Even though we cannot watch the video above in Germany (some strange new rules of our music industry) I thank you much for reminding me of it! It’s been quite a while…

Much love and please continue being who you are!

    • Hey, Stefanie. Thank you for your wonderful heart that extends love to even the smallest creatures on this Planet. We all were given our life for a reason, and insects and other creatures enjoy their moments on Earth as much as we enjoy ours. Their life is unique, and can only be experienced once, just like life of any human being.

I am surprised to learn you can’t watch the video… Do you have access to Youtube in Germany?

God Bless you and everyone you love! Big Hug!

      • A friend of mine used to say that each of us is bringing their unique part to the circle and that if one is missing, the circle would be incomplete. Due to his native american heritage he also believed that we all are a part of our mother earth because our body is made of her to house our soul for the expirience of this life. I can relate to this view of the world a lot and I never believed that this excludes animals, plants or minerals. (I guess, nor did he.)

We can access YouTube in Germany but we also have an organisation called GEMA who puts themselves into a position of protecting the artistic expression for the artist. Unfortunately they do not even ask the artists if they want to be protected like that and I don’t believe that their extra fees and the laws blocking content on YouTube really helps anybody but themselves. Some bigger music coorperations seem to step into the same manner like GEMA, also. Anyway, I actually found a version of the video that I could watch from here. 🙂 It’s really a peace of beauty!

Thank you for the blessings. May they expand to reach back to you and your loved ones, as well. Much love with a hug!

      • I can absolutely relate to this point of view too!

  23. I love the line … “it makes me feel like I’m part of the goodness in the world” Is’t that really what it’s all about..treating others (animals included) the way you want to be treated. So simple, yet so hard for so many. Great post and a greater reminder to all of us.

    • Thank you!! It’s about putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes… As human beings we were given a gift of Empathy, we might as well use this ability to empathize with someone else’s pain or trouble.:). Have a wonderful day!

  26. I understand how you fell. For instance, I would do something as simple as taking the time to walk around an anthill.

  27. This is such a warm posting. I, too, have a soft heart for earth’s creatures. Sometimes I will see an itsy bug and wonder to myself how many people would quickly squash its small life and never think twice. I look at it and decide it is doing nothing irritating or harmful so why should I not give it another day to live. I keep a glass jar on the porch and will capture the little critters and put them back outside:>)

    • That is so heart-warming to hear from people like you. God Bless you for your kindness. You know, some insects only live a few months. They life is so short! Why not help them to prolong it if only a little bit. Every life is precious!

As a dad trying to instill just this kind of attitude in my daughters, I can’t tell you enough how much I love this post. To top it off, the response you got from so many like-minded people! How heartening is that? Thank you and thank you and thank you.

    • And thank you and thank you:-). I am so pleasantly surprised how many people relate to what I thought was just a quirk of mine. It is very heartening and encouraging to know that there’s a peaceful army of people reinforcing Goodness in this world. And it is also very rewarding to me to hear a kind response about my little post from fellow bloggers. Thank you, United We Stand!:-)

  29. I just nominated three blogs I have recently ‘followed’. Your’s is one of them, come and visit me.

  30. Thank you for such a beautiful post. It made me think of my daughter who is just like you with mother nature. While I don’t think anything about it, she takes the time to help those in need. I feel when big things, bad things happen in our family, or community or in the world, we are reminded to be kind and help one another. But so quickly and easily we get caught up in our day to day living that we forget the promise we made to ourselves to treat every person a little bit kinder, a little bit gentler, than we did before.

  31. How touching post congratulations!!

  32. My son saves spiders. Yuuuuuk. I’m not sure where he got that from, but I’m proud of him. Lovely post.

  34. beautiful…thanks for posting!

  35. Great post. I rescue bees on the beach. They get sucked down with the air current and then the moisture gets on their wings so they cannot fly away. Part of my reason is my own fear of drowning. I cannot stand the thought of anyone or anything else suffocating in the water. Or in the case of a fish, suffocating on land. I love your point of how often we wish for someone to save us.

    • So you’re putting yourself in a bee’s shoes:) – it’s called empathy. I love that! I think it should be a norm to offer help to others if you are in position to do so. It feels great, too! So by helping others, we are also obviously helping ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

  36. lovely post. really like the photo of the Squirrel..so trusting

  37. A truly beautiful post, both in words and photos.

  38. am so happy to see this post …..my sis and me are exactly the same …and my sis is one step ahead and extremely caring for even the smallest of insects too…People who can see life in everything can be of this type…even i used to think that this might be a strange habit of me and my sis but good i saw your post ….am happy now ….

  39. If we have the heart where it belongs, there would be a little god in all of us… 😉

    Like your post… 😉

  40. Excellent way to make a difference 🙂
    Red.

  41. Oh SOOO Beautiful.Thankyou thankyou. Loved it. U showed ur Godlikeness in this post and in your care for the smallest and most frail creatures.

    • It’s really my pleasure, because the response and support this post has received is obsoletely more than I could possibly hope for. I am SO appreciative of the kindness of the people who feel need to help, and to share, and to be there for others! And there many of us, and that just makes my day every time I see how many people can relate to the thoughts I’ve shared here. Thank you!!:)

  42. Very inspiring post, I will try and do my bit to save God’s creatures in future

  43. Absolutely beautiful perspective!! If more of us had compassion for the creatures and people around us, the earth would be such a better place!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing this.

    • It’s all about exchanging positive energies and experiences. Good vibes go round, and round, and round.:-) Thank you for your kind comment!

  44. Bless you for caring enough to rescue those who are in need. I’ve saved a few anoles (lizard-like critters) from harm’s way (our cats), and, I do believe that they know and understand.

Loved your photos and your beautiful message. I do believe in karma.

    • I do believe in Karma, and the Law of Attraction – both are always at work whether one believe in them or not. Thank you for your beautiful comment, and for contributing to the Goodness in this World! God Bless!

  45. I am honored to nominate you for The Versatile Blogger Award! Please pick-up your award at http://www.grandmothermusings.com . Copy and Paste the Award to your blog and follow the rules of acceptance. I wish you many blessings. Congratulations!!

  46. Wow! What a wonderful blog you have. I am so glad I found you, or the other way round really. Thank you for following myblog. judsp.wordpress.com I really appreciate your support. Happy Blogging cheers Judy 🙂

  47. Awesome pictures and post. Wow.. amazing

  48. Beautiful post. Love the song. I recently prayed, “Lord, every day when my eyes open I thank you for another day of life. May I do with this day everything I can to encourage, help, and lift up the downtrodden. And yes, I do not try to disrupt nature as well. And all my pets are and have been adopted. My biggest problems? Childhood prostitution and convenience abortions. Robbing a child of life is one of the greatest inhumanities.
Every day is a gift from God. Let us heed the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:34-40 (I won’t type them due to their length but I encourage all to look up.)
I want to thank you for following my blog. I am honored and shall oblige you as well.

I love this and relate so much. The other day, I rescued the tiniest little spider I found in the house. Smaller almost than the dot on an i. Just something in me wouldn’t let him die. You say it so beautifully here. What a kind soul. And thanks for the visit to my blog! I’ll be following here.

    • Thank you so much for saving little spider’s life (as we know, both concepts – little and large – are very relative :-). Thank you for joining our community, and for sharing the beauty of your Soul with the World. God Bless!

  51. I nominated you for the Super Sweet Blogging Award. 🙂 Congratulations! I totally related to this post. I rescue animals all the time, and killing anything is out of the question. I think all life is sacred, and everything has a role to play. So and so may not like spiders, but they need to consider how spiders eat mosquitoes. They may not like worms, but they fertilize dirt and add nutrients. We need all of these animals, and I think they’re all important.

    http://stayforaspell.wordpress.com/2012/08/21/2-awards/

    • Thanks SO MUCH, for this sweet award:-). I had no idea the award like this existed. I am very flattered to be nominated by you. And it makes me super happy to meet yet another like-minded Soul, who cherishes everyone and everything around, and treats any living being with respect and dignity. God Bless You!

  52. Such a relief to know there’s someone else out there besides myself who does this! Now, I may not be that extreme, I’m highly allergic to bee stings so wouldn’t risk rescuing one but the rest of them, I’m okay with. I may be terrified like a little girl but I’d rather safely escort them out of my house than to kill them.
It’s reasons like this post right here why I’ve nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger’s Award.
Just click the link below to find out the rules and more about the award:

    Wow!… Just, wow!

    • Hey, I use common sense (I do believe I have one LOL) when rescuing insects and such – if there’s an immediate danger to my well being, I sometimes just choose to run in the opposite direction:-). But if I am in position to help without putting my health in danger, I’ll always help. And I can totally relate to that escorting them out of my house thing – sometimes it’s the safest choice for both of us…lol

  53. Your blog has been nominated for an award today.

Awards In ( ever hopeful). & Awards Out.

    • Thank you so very much for the honor, I am truly touched, and will be responding and accepting this super sweet award formally as soon as time allows. I appreciate your thoughtfulness a great deal! God Bless!

  54. LOVE this post!! I am also an insane rescuer of bugs. Just the other day, there was a weird green one that looked like a leaf with feet–I had to make sure that he made his way across the church parking lot without getting squashed.
But for the grace of God, I could have been a bug. I wonder if they are insulted by the name “bug?”

    • God Bless you for your kind heart. It makes me so happy to know that there many of us actually enjoying helping the weaker creatures to survive in this, at times, very dangerous world. And, who knows, we might seem like little bugs to some… everything is very relative in the Universe:-). Thank you for your comment.God Bless!

  55. Thank you for the wonderful message in your post, love this song.
    many blessings,
    Tj

  56. Such beautiful photos and heartfelt words… I can relate to your compassion towards insects… I keep a very clean home, but I just cannot bear to rid my corners of the little spiders that have made themselves at home… i don’t know why many of us humans feel we are so above animals and insects… Unless something is dangerous, I will continue to treat all of these things as though they are my equals…
Thanks for sharing this, looking forward to reading more from you 🙂

    • You know, somebody once told me, that spiders are bringing luck and guarding our homes from negative energies… I believe it! Thank you for your kindness and sharing your thoughts. Aloha!

  57. Love how you put it and love all the little animals except SPIDERS despite the joys that they bring!! Maybe it’s weird, but when I collect all the slugs and snails that eat my shrubs, plants and flowers, rather than ….. them, I deposit them in my compost bin and they eat away merrily until ……. and then I spread the rich compost! Please tell me, I am doin the right thing! Thanks for looking into my site with my paintings and taking the time to like it,

  58. Sorry for being so complex. We have a compost bin in our garden and each year we produce a very rich crumbly organic compost. Slugs are a constant scourge because they eat all my lovely shrubs so, rather than putting down slug pellets which are harmful to birds, I collect the slugs and put them in with the rotting compost. The slugs eventually perish and no doubt contribute to the rich compost thereby creating the cycle of life all over again.

  59. So true….loved your post. Empathy is a virtue and not everyone possesses it. We should all strive to be empathetic and to support our fellow co-inhabitants that are weaker than us.

  60. hello, wanted to let you know I awarded you the LOVELY BLOG AWARD. Congrats you deserve it….go to my site for more info if you need it. Leanne

  61. “I often rescue insects, worms, and spiders. Some people find this behavior of mine peculiar.”

    Me too!!

What a wonderful post! The moment I saw the title the song started playing in my head and then I saw you had it at the end. 🙂

  62. Thanks for this beautiful reminder to honour the life of all beings, even the small ones. I try not to harm insects, and I try to catch and carry them outside if they happen to enter the house. I do like my “pet spider” by the front door step, who keeps check on many uninvited guests. 🙂

We can learn so much from other beings, even insects. I wrote about my lessons from a little caterpillar here. http://thestillspot.wordpress.com/2012/08/01/lessons-for-a-little-caterpillar/

    Enjoy the day!

    • Absolutely, any living being is precious and important:). Say ‘Hello’ to your “pet Spider’, would you? What is his name? lol

  63. Love it. Your thoughts and the beautiful pictures!

  64. I am the same as you – I even make sure no-one squishes spiders!

  65. That was really lovely. I had to put the song on from youtube as soon as I finished reading this post. Thank you as I endeavor to try to live the spirit of this post today more then yesterday.

  66. A beautifully put together post…yes We all hold that God Part, and she/he is inside everyone…
    Lovely post Np.. ~Sue xox

  67. Loved your photos. Beautiful post!

  68. One of my favorite songs! One of my favorite poems. Much love and humility! Mel

  71. Very nice post. Your compassion is a blessing. May your life be filled with health and happiness.

  72. What a lovely post! The photos were perfect, and I enjoyed your thoughtful words just as much.

    • Thank you, Naomi. It means a lot to me, that so many people can relate to the thoughts I shared here. It’s comforting to know that there are many of us who see ourselves and the world around as one and precious.

  73. a beautiful post..indeed we do have God within us because we were made in his image….love this post

  74. This is such a touching post. I enjoyed it so much!

  75. Absolutely! I couldn’t have put it any better. When I was in elementary school, I felt the same way. I would try to help different insects that would get trapped in our house (this was in the country in Korea at the time) I didn’t do it because I just wanted to, but I only imagined myself to be in the same situation and thought what I thought was the right thing. Anyways, thanks for stopping by!! Definitely going to be checking out some more of your posts here 🙂

  76. Nice to see that in this crazy world there is someone like you who thinks of all the creatures.

  77. A beautiful post. I like your sentiment of spreading Goodness – as you call it. I see it as respect for all living creatures, and it makes me think about a book written by Albert Schweitzer, called Reverence for Life, which is all about this respect.

    • Thank you so much, Munchow, for taking the time to leave a comment and for sharing the name of a book, which I will absolutely read some day. Have a beautiful day!

  78. Wow amazing post. Just like so many people have said; this is so true. A very thought-provoking post. Can’t wait to read more 🙂

I rescued a spider once. It was on a dandelion bloom, and those land upside down in the water, so the spider was clinging to the top of the stem and that’s where I found it as I floated along the top of the lake. I carried it back to shore and the spider was very grateful.

    • Hey there, Roland. You are welcome. I am a songwriter, and the picture was taken at Manhattan studio when one of the singer’s was recording one of my songs, and I was producing her vocals:).

This is just lovely. As a lifelong bug-rescuer, I couldn’t have said it better myself. 🙂

  87. I am the same way. I feel compelled to save any small creature I can, even small insects. One time, I even rescued a bee whose wing was caught in an old spider web. Being careful of the stinger, I gently pinched off the web that was holding the bee, and it flew away. Fortunately, I was not stung; I think it knew it needed help to get free.

Great post, and I am so happy to hear of others who take time to care for these small yet wonderful creatures around us.

Thanks for the like on my blog! 🙂

      Aloha from New York!

  90. Beautiful photos. k.

  91. A beautiful and thought provoking example of photo journalism at it’s best. I’ve nominated you for the ‘Lovely Blogger Award.’ I wanted my followers to see and read your post. My nominations went up on my Sept. 25 blog. Congratulations. You may wish to participate or not.

    • WOW! I love receiving Awards:-). Thank you. I accept this beautiful nomination with a pounding heart and deep appreciation for the honor. It will take a while for me to accept this Award properly, but I will do my best to make it happen as soon as time allows. Thank you so very much for your kinds, too!
      Much love! Glasha

  92. This hits me 🙂

Thanks for this wonderful post ..

  93. Very nice post. As Arthur Schopenhauer wrote in ‘The Basis of Morality’, “Compassion for animals is intimately associated with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.” Thanks for sharing your kind thoughts. 🙂

    • I could not have said it better myself. Thank you so much, Otrazhenie, for your thoughtful comment. Great meeting you in here. Otrazhenie… Is not it translates from Russian as ‘Refelction’?:-) Aloha from New York!

      • Yes, ‘Otrazhenie’ translates as ‘Reflection’ from Russian. Have never heard Aloha used in New York. Nice word. Very interesting to see how cultures adopt such nice words: aloha in Hawaii, alofa in Samoa, aroha in Maori – all meaning peace, compassion, love and mercy. Hopefully, such words will help to improve understanding between cultures living on this planet.

      • ‘Aloha’ means many things – ‘Love’, ‘Hello’ and ‘Ciao’ are some of them:-).

  94. well said! its about time somebody like you came out openly to profess what they do….ive been doing the same as you for years…if i find a spider in the house, i try and pick it up carefully before putting it outside again….if a wasp or bee comes inside, i dont automatically kill it, no…i get a hold of it in some cloth and gently let it out…stuff like that! i dont know about god and all that however….ive seen too much in my life to believe there is a god who looks after everybody….i just dont know…but as you say…a little goodness never did anybody any harm….what lovely, heart-warming write up….!

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. And it’s so empowering to know that there many people out there, who have the same need to help others and who perpetuate the goodness no matter what names each of gives to it. Aloha from New York!

      • no problem at all! it was so nice reading your posts today…made my day! by the way, a not-so-warm aloha from merry ol’ england, too….its getting real cold here right now…well, autumn is virtually upon us!

      • It’s raining all day here in New York. Autumn is definitely gaining its momentum. It made my day to make a new friend:-).

  95. I’m so relieved that you came by and led me to your blog. We are kindred spirits. I relate to all your feelings. I save insects too. But I haven’t told anyone, for fear of being ridiculed. I believe all life is sacred. It’s an honor and a privilege to care for those who need our help. And, yes, who is to say we are not their Gods? Or at least their angels? Bless you.

    • Thank you for your kind thoughts and words, SunBird. I am very happy to connect with you. Welcome to our like-minded community. God Bless!

  96. What a beautiful post. It is true there is a spark of the Almighty in each of us, and He is everywhere: in our marigolds that are now in full bloom, in the wonder of the children of our children, in glorious sunny days. The list is endless. Thank you for liking and following my blog.

    • What a pleasure to connect with a beautiful mind. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I am looking forward to reading and learning more from your posts! God Bless!

I rescue turtles crossing our highway…thank you for your post…

  98. A truly beautiful post! I think rescuing any creature is wonderful and I hope that small bee knew that you had rushed to the sink. You are one of the forces of good in a world that needs a lot of goodness! My admiration and respect 🙂

    • Thank you so much for your kind words of support. I sincerely hope that that little bee is in a better place now and reinforcing Goodness herself from where ever she is right now. Who knows, maybe there are some Angels Bees out there…:)… Who knows…

  99. I lived for eight years within the 100-year-old, crumbling, ivy-covered, centipede-infested campus (so many beautiful memories!), and every morning, the mossy walkways would be covered in dew and full of snails. I only accidentally stepped on one of them (I still hear the crunch of my sneakers on its shell) and I stood there, watched it writhe away to its death, feeling very sorry. From then on, I made it my mission to remove the snails on the humans’ path and put them down on the grass every morning. And every time a minor miracle happened to me (e.g. a teacher happened to ask me a question I knew the answer to, or I won in a student competition for poetry or something), I kinda always felt the rescued snails had something to do with it, that it was their tiny karmas, collected to give a positive push to the universe to treat me a little better. ^_^

    • What an empowering story! That snail who perished under your foot didn’t die in vain – there was a lesson there to learn, – you’ve saved so many other lives of snails because of it.

  100. that picture of the ant in the drop of water wow how vulnerable they can be in a rain storm its good to see someone who helps the vulnerable

    • Yes, every creature’s (including human being’s) life is fragile, and our mutual courtesy is a virtue!:) Thank you for your comment!

  101. Lovely post and how heartening to see so many peoples responses. Now if we could just extend that compassion to all living creatures how wonderful our planet would be!

Man, this post is one fine piece of work… real fine… beauty in action… and the song is great too (IMO) fits about as perfect as you can get… Thank you.
    Whew! Yeah, really fine…

  103. Thanks for visiting my blog. I rescue insects and such too. I usually even let a small spider live in its web under the windowsill by the kitchen sink. Blog’s quite insightful!

  105. Not enough kindness in the world. Pay it forward, people, pay forward. Great post. Thank you for stopping by and liking my home page of rubensandthebard.

  106. Well said!Great post,thanks!

  107. This is a really beautiful and inspirational post, nyparrot. Thank you for following my blog, and I’m sorry it’s taken me such a long time to visit yours. I’m glad I did. My husband makes a conscious effort to do one kind thing each day. Sometimes opportunities just present themselves, other times he has to “go out of his way” to do something nice. I’ve seen how appreciative – and surprised – people are by his random acts of kindness. Like this post, his actions are inspirational. There’s plenty of room for more “humankind” in this world. But it’s also so uplifting to see people come together during a crisis – like the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Sometimes, though, I just wish we didn’t need a crisis for people to help one another.

    • Thank you SO MUCH for your kind comment, Amiable!! It is so kind, adorable and big of your husband to make it a point to bring goodness, and thus HOPE and INSPIRATION into this, at times dangerous and cruel, world. And thank you for supporting and inspiring your man:-). I hope you and your loved ones are safe. And I am looking forward for all of us prevailing against the Sandy’s aftermath.

  108. i’ve rescued hundreds of insects and spared dozens, from death maybe because of my own inner dismay where death is concerned, but mostly because i appreciate life’s preciousness and the beauty of mother nature. after reading this post i have been encouraged to boldly face those that find my quirks wierd or unusual because to be honest who’s right is it to determine what is usual??

    • Exactly!! It’s up to us to stick to our own principles and believes… and follow our heart. And I am so super appreciative of the fact that so many people share this love for all the creatures, and strive to save and spare lives of smaller and weaker living beings, cause their time on the Earth is as precious as ours. I am wishing you all very best!! Thank you for bringing Love into this World!!

  109. This post went straight to my heart – I’m one of those people too. I have never thought of it so much, because I was born with this and it always comes natural to me. Many comments are beautiful and you must be happy for them! I’m happy with them and for you. I believe we have a great responsibility, and even if some people laugh at us and think
some things we do are quite absurd – don’t ever let it bother you. my two children are the same, and they are now 22 and 20.

    • Thank you for your wonderful comment, Lagottocattleya. I am super happy with the response this post generated – it just shows that it’s much more common for human beings to want to extend helping hand to smaller and weaker creatures than we might have thought;). There are many of us out there, and we are making a difference. God bless you and your kids!! Aloha!

  110. this song is my ring tone caller tune and alarm . 😀

  111. It’s grace.Living with grace. All life is one. I love this post!! I wish a post like THIS was on the front page of newspapers…what great—and shared–acts & sentiments.

    • Thank you SO very much, Charron, for your kind words. I’ve been blessed with so many thoughtful responses to this post of mine – it’s heartwarming to know that so many people are sharing the same view on being carrying and attentive to less fortunate and weaker creatures. God Bless you and your family! May 2013 brings you much happiness, health, love and prosperity! Glasha

  113. What a really, really lovely post. If the rest of your blog is as nice then I will be one very happy reader! Best wishes to you 🙂

  114. Beautiful words and a beautiful message. If only more people felt and acted the same, the world would be a more beautiful place !

    • Thank you for your kind comment, and there are many thoughtful, kind and inside-out beautiful people who absolutely contribute to this World’s beauty and harmony. But I agree – the more the merrier! Happy Holiday Season to you and your loved ones!!:-)

  116. Happy New Year, NYparrot… 🙂

  117. hope the new year will bring you more cheers, bigger challenges and more money, ahaha. warm regards… 🙂 ~San

  118. indeed well said, glad to hear that u’re trying to help as much as u can either they are animals, birds or humans.God bless u.Have a wonderful day.Hugs

  119. Superb post. I’m exactly the same and, although I’m petrified of worms, for instance, I will always get a stick or piece of dry grass and move them off wet pavements and roads. I hate to see suffering and, to me, all lives are equal. I do have to admit to killing the odd wasp if it’s stung me though!

By the way, I almost went for the same theme as your blog as it looks so nice and let me have wider photos but I couldn’t find out how people would get back to the ‘home’ page from any other pages I set up as it didn’t appear to have one?

  120. You remind me of my son. He nurtures living things. Even in Kindergarten, the teacher commented that he spent his recesses building habitats for the ants. He still runs the ‘catch and release’ program for flies that get in the house.

  121. Beautiful thoughts of Love and compassion nyparrot, God did create us in His Likness so you are right we have part of Him in us, which means in the heart of all mankind is His Love, absence of Love is evil, everything God made was good, man messed it up, if we want to be rescued eternally we need to trust God as a child Trusts their parents… God is Love and can do no evil, He Loves you and me and all his children with a life enriching passion , He sent Jesus to rescue us eternaly, to set us free, in His arms we are shilded and protected, regardless of what happens to our outer bodies.

I love your concern for animals nyparrot its beautiful, God bless you greatly.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne.

  122. I cannot disagree with you. God, of course, is within us. We were made in His likeness. I don’t have too much sympathy for bugs, but our pets are important to me and, every time I make myself go out of my way to help someone else even in the smallest way, I gain more than the help I gave.

    Tim

  123. Abosolutely Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  124. I also save little creatures. We once put a floating thing in the pool so anything that found itself waterlogged could hop on and be saved 🙂

  125. I used to write “shorties”, one of which went like this conversation:

Monk: When I die I’ll become instant saint.
Master: Why you say that, Sir?
Monk: I’m nice to everyone I meet.
    Master: You never HURT anyone?
Monk: Never! Why…I never even hurt a FLY.
Master: Good for you, Sir….but did you ever HELP one?

    PEACE and LIGHT
    Steve

  126. It’s an amazing song. Did you ever listen to Prince’s cover of it? It’s not bad either.

I also loved your blog. The photos are a nice touch!
