I few days ago I came across a post by Jackie – ‘Taking a Moment to Notice the Wounded Cicada’ – (http://Jackie2759125.newsvine.com/_news/2012/06/18/12282767-taking-a-moment-to-notice-the-wounded-cicada ), which made me think: ‘I can so relate to this…’.
I often rescue insects, worms, and spiders. Some people find this behavior of mine peculiar. One of my colleagues once made a joke – “Hey, there’s a bee drowning in the kitchen sink – go rescue it… I rushed into the kitchen… It was too late – the bee’s wings were hopelessly wet, and she didn’t even look like a bee anymore. I felt sad for her.
How many times Mother Nature made us, humans, feel small and helpless in the face of catastrophic events such as earthquakes, hurricanes or tornados?! In the midst of these uncontrollable forces, didn’t we wish and pray some Powers from Above came to our rescue and saved us against all the odds? Would not we feel grateful if some Strong and Kind Giant chose not to overlook our “little” existence, took us in his arms and brought to safety?
When I see little bugs, birds or pets that could use a miracle, I gladly jump at the opportunity to perform that little miracle for them. To me, it’s more than just being kind – it makes me feel like I am a part of the Goodness that is always present in the world.
I am glad I am not alone feeling compassion toward other creatures neighboring with us on this beautiful Planet Earth. Obviously, it’s not just about insects – it’s about Humankind treating our fellow animal-cohabiters, as well as each other, with respect and empathy. It’s about extending our help to those who are weaker or have lost control over their destiny.
Every time we help an older person to cross the street or carry a luggage, every time we give up our seat for a pregnant woman, or even when we just grace a stranger with our smile – we bring more Goodness into the world, we make it better, we make a difference.
I mind you, there’s a little bit of God in each of us!
Last week I got nominated for two awards. I hope I’d be forgiven for acknowledging both rewards in the same post. I just wanted to make sure I responded and expressed my gratitude for both nominations in a timely manner.
I thank with all my heart http://thehyperteller.com/ for nominating me for Tell Me About Yourself Award. On the top of it, Thehyperteller possesses absolutely super fantastical sense of humor, which makes his blog especially fun to read.

Now I am about to share with you seven things you don’t yet know about me.
- I’ve been leading a double life: I am selling Real Estate by day, and writing songs by night. Some of my fellow musicians have no idea about my real estate endeavors, and most of my real estate colleagues know nothing about my lifelong love and commitment to music. Here, I’ve just outed myself.
- I write both music and lyrics. You may listen to the songs I’ve written at www.MySpace.com/Glasha1
- I once worked as a video editor.
- I can draw pretty distantly, though I don’t have any formal education in painting. Maybe I’ll share some of my immature works in the future posts… maybe…
- I like eating salty and sweet food at the same time… like chocolate cake and tomato juice.
- I am clumsy. I manage to bump into, trip on and get scratched by things excessively.
- I am more creative at night, so I often stay up till three or four in the morning. Waking up in the actual morning after only a few hours of sleep is an ongoing struggle.

Life is made of tragicomically controversial moments. One man’s painful fall may cause a bystander to burst into an inappropriate laugh. While in stitches ridiculing the clumsiness of a stranger, the bystander himself may slip on a banana skin and fall hard… Though hurting really badly – through all the moaning – he’d start laughing even harder. Why? Because he sees the irony in what happened to him.
Seeing the funny side of life and things is a gift. The ability to help others not to take themselves too seriously, to make them lighten up and make a light out of sometimes less than perfect situations, is a talent.
Concerts of a duo of a violinist and singer Aleksey Igudesman and pianist Hyung-Ki Joo (http://www.igudesmanandjoo.com/biography/) are full of unexpected twists and turns, as they don’t just deliver a professional performance of musical pieces, but also offer their own theatrical interpretation of each composition. There’s a humor and story in every note and step they take on stage.
Famous ‘I Will Survive’ had never sounded so lighthearted before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odhDJiRys6U
Most of people like to have fun and be entertained. When I feel like inviting some extra silliness into my life, I go to a Comedy Club or choose to watch a comedy movie. But Comedy and Classical Music didn’t exactly go hand in hand in my mind until I saw a performance of Alexsey and Joo.
I think, Mozart would be proud: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psazw6xsMFs&feature=related
After rocking New York’s Carnegie Hall back in April, Aleksey and Joo are now on their way to you, so you might just see their performances in person. Check out their touring schedule. http://www.igudesmanandjoo.com/#
Did Bethenny Frankel go too far this time? Pushing the envelope is one thing, but pushing Dr. Oz’ TV Show the whole hour ahead, and getting his 11AM spot on FOX (http://www.bethenny.com/) takes her super powers to the whole new level! I mean, is there anything this ‘Skinny Girl’ can’t do?! You don’t have to answer – this question is a rhetorical one. I watched her “first” TV Talk Show on ’Ellen’ today, and I personally doubt it very much that it was indeed her very first time hosting a talk show – a hint – that’s why I put “first’ in quotes. My theory is – Beth had been schooled to go after her dreams at a secret college (trust me, all successful people went to that college at some point in their lives) – somewhere in another Galaxy, in the Outer Space. And that’s where Beth made Friends in Higher Places, who now support and empower her here on Earth.
And to whoever is spreading rumors about Beth’s and Jason’s divorce – get life! One of the ‘Bethenny’ show’s guests implied that black men’s penises are bigger than that of white men, and Bethenny immediately asked for proof! Beth felt comfortable making a joke like this, even though her husband was a part of the audience. My point – it takes a very special man to handle a strong and successful woman, and it takes balls to say whatever you feel like saying in front of your husband while hosting a show on the National TV.
